Initial Inquiry

After you express your interest in becoming a foster parent, you will have the opportunity to speak with an experienced member of the foster care team. During this conversation, you can learn more about the organisation, what they offer, and how they differ from other foster care providers. This is a chance to gather information and ask any questions you may have

Home Visit and Detailed Discussion

If you’re still interested after the initial conversation, the next step is a home visit. A representative from the foster care organisation will visit your home to discuss the process in more detail. This is an opportunity to address any concerns and clarify any remaining questions. If you are still interested, you can move forward to the next step.

Assessment Review

The final stage involves presenting your assessment to an independent panel. This panel will review the assessment and make a recommendation based on their findings. Once the panel has provided their recommendation, there may be some final administrative steps and sign-offs required. After these are completed, you will be ready to welcome a child into your home as a foster parent.

Assessment and Training:

The initial step is to commence the assessment process, with an agreed timescale. Background checks and investigations will be carried out discreetly, with ongoing updates. As part of your preparation to become a foster parent, you’ll undergo “Skills to Foster” training to gain a thorough understanding of the role’s requirements.
